North by Northwest

Campaign for the rerelease of Alfred Hitchcock's movie North by Northwest. This campaign includes a movie poster and video promotion. The poster incorporates the map of the Black Hills in South Dakota at Mount Rushmore which was the location of the main scene. The map was overlayed on the maze-like typography created by extending the stems and crossbars of the characters. The symbols of a maze and map represent the theme of the movie as the protagonist is sent on a chase across the country.

The promo video extends the look of the poster by using paper elements and a crime board composition animated to create a sense of drama. The video has a faded and dark film look to add to the theme of espionage and being on the run.
